SHORT BIO

Sloane Leong is a cartoonist, illustrator, art director, narrative game designer, writer, and editor of mixed indigenous ancestry. She creates fantastically speculative narratives across mediums that pursues a hypersensory path to the convergence of the otherwordly and the visceral. Through a radical kaleidoscopic lens, he takes embodied private memory and obsession and sculpts it into speculative metaphysical worlds. Her work aims to debride collective myths with their own autolytic daydreams and pluralistic ecological collisions.

Besides doing art, comics, and writing fiction, she also works as a Narrative Game Designer at Wizards of the Coast. He is currently living on Chinook land near what is known as Portland, Oregon with their partner and three dogs.

LONG BIO

Sloane Leong is a self-taught cartoonist, illustrator, art director, narrative game designer, and writer of Hawaiian, Chinese, Mexican, Native American and European ancestry. She creates fantastically speculative narratives across mediums that pursues a hypersensory path to the convergence of the otherwordly and the visceral. Through a radical kaleidoscopic lens, he takes embodied private memory and obsession and sculpts it into speculative metaphysical worlds. Her work aims to debride collective myths with their own autolytic daydreams and pluralistic ecological collisions.

She is the creator of several graphic novels: From Under Mountains, Prism Stalker 1 & 2, A Map to the Sun, and Graveneye. He has been self-publishing her own comics since she was a teen and has done work for Disney, Pixar, Viz Media, New Republic, Image Comics, Cartoon Network, DC, Dark Horse, Namco, and more. Their fiction has appeared in many publications including Lightspeed Magazine, Dark Matter Magazine, Apex Magazine, Fireside Magazine, Analog, Realm Media and many more. In 2022, she attended Clarion West’s six week summer workshop. In 2023, he was chosen to be a Fellow in the 8th Annual Native American TV Writers Lab.

As an editor, she has Kickstarted, co-edited, and art directed two volumes of an illustrated horror fiction anthology, Death In the Mouth: Original Horror by People of Color. They have also worked with clients as a fiction and comics editor and coach, providing career guidance and creative mentorship. She also co-hosted a show, now retired, with his best friend Leslie Hung about storytelling with a focus on comics and film.

She is also the co-founder of the Cartoonist Cooperative, an organization dedicated to helping cartoonists develop a generative and sustainable creative practice. They also co-founded The Minicomic Awards, an annual virtual showcase that spotlights short form comics with Leslie Hung which has been integrated into the Cartoonist Cooperative.

Sloane currently works at Wizards of the Coast as a narrative game designer for Magic: The Gathering. He is currently living on Chinook land near what is known as Portland, Oregon with her partner and three dogs.
